Leona Castor

Leona F. Castor, 81, of Farnam died Wednesday, March 21, 1990.

The funeral was Friday afternoon at McVay Memorial Chapel, Rev. Robert Wigert and Robert Stevens officiating. Music was furnished by Ron Wilest and Tom Oberg. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.

Casket bearers were Les Beck, Lloyd Walker, Gene Bosch, Tom Bosch, Russell Wilcox and Jim Tafoya. Honorary bearers were Ellis Widick, Martin Schurr, Frank Zysset, Ed Hoppe, Dr. Craig Bartruff, Vernon Magee, Lawrence Baker and Jack Schultz.

Leoma F., daughter of Andrew and Emma (Helms) Harbert, was born Febr. 28, 1909 at Moorefield, where she graduated from high school. She married Thomas Castor in August 1927 and they lived on a farm south of Farnam until 1950, moving at that time to a farm northeast of Farnam. In 1971 they moved in to Farnam.

She was a member of UNI Club, North Union Aid, Bible Study Organization, Library Board and Pitch Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Oberg of Farnam; two sisters, Grace Lippincott and Edna Johnson of North Platte; three grandchildren, Dale and Tom Oberg of Farnam and Lorraine Heiden of Kearney; five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1980, two brothers and two sister.

A memorial has been established.
