Mary (Hall) DeLate
Mary Hall was born at Andover, Vermont, June 18, 1825 and was married to Wm. DeLate at Belvideere, Ill., Dec. 3, 1854; moved to Nora, Ill., in Sep. 1856; in March 1878, she with her children moved to Republic county, Kansas; and in 1884 to Frontier county, Nebr., where she resided until about four years ago, when she came to Farnam and lived with her daughter until the day of her death.
Her life has been a remarkably active and energetic one. She rarely was sick, but was constantly doing, not only of herself, but for her children, grandchildren and neighbors. Her heart and purse were ever open to the call of the needy and her time and services were at all times cheerfully given to those who were sick or in distress.
She was a woman of remarkable intellect, had excellent business ability, was a great reader and took the most lively interest in all passing events. Her life has been lived grandly; her work well done, on earth, and she has gone to her reward; to that grander life of greater possibilities, it may expand and develop throughout the ages of eternity.
Out of a family of ten children, only two brothers, Norman Hall of Afton, New York, and F. M. Hall of Earl, Nebr., survive her. They together with one son, two daughters, seventeen grandchildren and other relatives mourn her loss and rejoice at her entrance into that higher life. She was 79 years, nine months and two days old at death.
We spend our years as a tale that is told. Psalms 90:8
