Jonathan R. Jones died at Farnam, Nebraska August 19, 1904, aged 79 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Father Jones was born in Berkley County, West Virginia, Feb. 15, 1825. When but a small boy he with his parents came to Ohio and settled in Fayette County, where Jonathan grew to man hood.

In 1856, he rode horsback from Ohio to Iowa, but returned to Ohio in 1858. In Dec. 1863, he again came to Iowa and settled in Marion Co.

Here he resided until March 1902, when he, with mother Jones and their son Russell came to Farnam to make their home with their son, Clark.

He married Mary A. Crag in Knoxville, Iowa on Jan. 29, 1857, who with their five children, Clark, William, Eva, Clara and Russell survive him.

God wonderfully saved Father Jones in the year 1872, he united with Gosport society of the Methodist Protestant Church, and remained a faithful member of this church till God took him to his home in heaven.

His long suffering illness was very trying, but he bore it with great patience, ever rejoicing in Christ his Savior. (remainder of obituary not attached)

Notice

Father Jones died yesterday morning at about 7 o’clock. A short funeral service conducted by Rev. Gilson will be held at the home today at 10 o’clock A.M. The remains will be laid to rest in the Farnam cemetery.

Father Jones has been suffering for some months from heart trouble, and his removal from so much suffering to the home prepared for him, where suffering cannot enter, was a blessed change. Although he will be sadly missed by his aged wife and children, all should rejoice at his happy release. God knoweth best.
