Ralph Maurer
Ralph Maurer was born in Dawson county, near Lexington, Nebr.,
May 5, 1890.
He spent practically the whole of his life in and near Farnam,
making for himself many friends.
He heard the call of duty and answered it by entraining for Camp
Dodge, Iowa, August 22, 1918, where he soon took sick and from
which he never fully recovered. His illness began with the
Spanish Influenza and developed into pneumonia, which finally
resulted in his death.
He leaves father, mother, several sisters and brothers, one of
the latter who is in France now doing military duty.
Thus an honored family is caused to mourn a loved one and the
community is robbed of a useful member, yet, indebted to him for
giving his life for those ideals which are precious to every
American heart.
He expressed a desire for and accepted Christ as his Savior at
the camp and manifested his desire for baptism into the Baptist
church while in camp. A fact that gladdened the hearts of his
loved ones, even in their sorrow.
