He was united in marriage to Miss Elma Rosenfelt of Farnam,
at Lexington, on September 12, 1925. Three children were born
to this union, Clifford Charles Jr., Barbara Ruth and Madeline
Carol.

He was an enlisted man in the first World War, being inducted
into the army at Farnam, June 26, 1917, serving in Company C.
128th Infantry. When the war closed, he remained with the army
of occupation in Germany for several months. He was honorably
discharged a short time later.
He had been in delicate health since his return from the war,
and had been under the care of a physician for a number of
years. He was very patient in his intense suffering during the
past year, and it was only when he found he had to quit farming
and working entirely that he became very despondent. Following a
critical illness last fall he improved and again this spring his
condition became critical remaining so until his death.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam
with Rev. S. Mitchell officiating. A men's quartet composed of
Dan McNickle, Harve McNickle, Forrest Saum and David Banks sang
accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Mitchell. The American Legion
had charge of services at the grave, in the Farnam cemetery
where interment was made. Pallbearers were "soldier buddies" of
the deceased man....James, Clark, Ned (Hap) Ward and Bernard
Norsworthy, Gothenburg; John Rowland, Ray Blackwood and Owen
Thompson of Farnam.
