Obituary

William J. Adkisson, son of Christie Ann and Elijah Adkisson, was born December 25, 1856, in Illinois and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ira Wear, at Farnam October 18, 1947, after a lingering illness, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 25 days.

In December 1879 he was united in marriage to Maggie Hensley and in 1880 they moved to their homestead north of Eustis. They lived in that community until 1895 when he moved to the farm south of Farnam, which is now occupied by his son John.

To Mr. and Mrs. Adkisson were born six children, three of these William E., formerly of North Platte, and two infants, Mandy and Charley, preceded him in death.

His parents, two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing 3 children, John A. and Mrs. Ellen Wear of Farnam and Mrs. Lottie Hastings of Elsie; one brother Bud of Rising City, 22 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon from the Chester Hugo funeral home in Gothenburg to the local Methodist church, where Rev. Fern McCaig officiated.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Harry and Dale Adkisson, Robert and William Hastings, Carl Wear and Eldon Thompson.

Singers were Dan McNickle, Earl Hess, Dale Montgomery and Charles Pollard, with Mrs. Raymond Smith at the piano.

Burial was in Farnam cemetery.
