Elizabeth Catherine (Wehrman) Brock

Elizabeth Catherine Wehrman, daughter of Frederick and Sarah Wehrman was born November 11, 1862 in Christian County, Illinois and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Toberer on December 19, 1945 at the age of eighty-three years, one month, and eight days.

In 1875, she came with her parents to Clay County, Nebraska. She was married to William Brock in Nuckols County, Nebraska on December 31, 1882. To this union ten children were born. In 1890, Mr. and Mrs. Brock and five children moved to Frontier County.

She was preceded in death by her husband in October 1907, a daughter Florence in 1910 and a daughter Grace in 1927. After Mr. Brock's death she carried both a father and mother responsibility.

She was raised in a Christian home and was recommitted and baptized into the Methodist Church by Rev. Gillett. She was loyal to her church, was always a bible student and enjoyed reading the Upper Room. She was a great lover of her home and a wonderful mother. Although in poor health for over eight years, she was able to be up and about her home until two weeks ago, when due to illness, she went to the home of her daughter, Edna.

She leaves to mourn her passing five sons, Edward, William, Robert, and Ivan of Farnam and Everett of Grand Island; three daughters, Mrs. Mable Patterson of Arlington, California, Mrs. Ethel Ochs of Hartford, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Edna Toberer of Eustis; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Hugo Funeral Home in Gothenburg to the local Methodist Church with Rev. McCaig officiating. Pall bearers were E. B. Lewis, Ralph Earhart, Owen Thompson, Burr Parker, Weaver Cole, and Lee Hudson. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Dan McNickle and Mr. and Mrs Chas. Pollard with Mrs. Raymond Smith at the piano.
