OBITUARY

Ida Mae Caster was born Nov. 3, 1880 at Nora Springs, Iowa, to Newsom and Meroa Rank. At the age of 4, she came to Farnam, where she has made her home ever since.

On April 10, 1898, she was married to Tom J. Caster. To them were born 3 daughters and 3 sons: Meroa Knisler of Lincoln, Myra Phillips of Inglewood, California; Tommy N. Caster, Farnam, Ada Anthony and Boyd J. Caster of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Leon O. Caster who is with the United States air forces.

Mrs. Caster spent her last few months with her daughter, Mrs. Anthony, in Council Bluffs and passed away at Mercy Hospital there on July 1, 1953.

Mrs. Caster was a member of the Baptist church of Farnam, the Easter Rebekah lodge, the Grand Army of the Republic and the American Legion Auxilary.

She is survived by her husband, her children, 13 grand children, 23 great grand children, one sister, Hattie Feasal of Chico, California, and Henry Rank of La Salle, Colo.

She loved the Holy Scriptures and was a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, July 5, at the Farnam Baptist Church at two o’clock. Rev. Earl Brock officiating. Burial was in the Farnam cemetery. Members of the Farnam Rebekah Lodge attended the service in a body and conducted the Rebekah Ritual at the grave. Mrs. Anton Kotschwar and Mrs. Gene Nickerson sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Going down the Valley” — Mrs. Earl Edson accompanied them at the piano. Claude Clement, Ralph Parker, Lee Hudson, Weaver Cole, Frank Preston and Kenneth Hudson served as casket bearers. Olesen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
