Ellen (McPheeters) Gardner

Ellen McPheeters was born December 8, 1856 in Washington county, Ind., and departed this life at her home in Farnam, Nebr., March 9, 1929 aged 73 years, 3 months and 1 day.

She was united in marriage to Jno. M. Gardner March 14, 1881, who preceded her in death in 1905. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom survive.

She moved with her parents to Nance county, Nebraska in 1884 and to Frontier county, in 1885, settling near Farnam, which place has been her home since that time.

She was united with the United Brethren church in early girlhood, and after coming to this country placed her membership with the Baptist church in Farnam. She was a kind and loving mother, and was loved by all who knew her.

Those left to mourn her going are her eight children, Earnest of Gothenburg, Ed, Mrs. Alice Patterson and Mrs. Mazy Brown, of Filer, Idaho; Walter, of Rogers, Idaho, Mrs. Hattie Bolten, of North Platte, and Floyd and Mrs. May Hicks, of Farnam, two sisters and one brother, 27 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Monday afternoon, with Rev. C. R. Tanner, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
