Maxine B. Hill

Maxine B. Hill, 82, of Farnam died Oct. 12, 2001, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 4, 1919, at Farnam to Heber S. and Stella C. Franklin Boyle. She grew up in Farnam and attended Farnam Public Schools. She graduated from Farnam High School.

On Dec. 25, 1938, she married William D. "Bill" Hill at Farnam. The couple lived in Rhode Island and California while he was enlisted in the service. When he went overseas she moved back to Farnam and volunteered at the Canteen in North Platte. In 1951, they moved to the Boyle Homestead south of Farnam. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1999. In 2000, she moved to Farnam and spent the rest of her life there. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and collecting dishes and dolls. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Hill was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farnam, the Farnam American Legion Auxiliary and the Sunshine Club.

Survivors include two sons, Doug (Rhonda) of Farnam and Denny of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Hill of Omaha, Jamie (Stefanie) Hill of Grand Island, Brandon (Laura) Hill and Jessica (Tyler) Messersmith, all of Kearney, and Carri Hill of Farnam; two great-granddaughters, Katelyn Hill of Grand Island and Madison Hill of Omaha; sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Ora McMichael of Farnam and Mildred Grimes of Seal Rock, Ore.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Maria, her parents, three brothers, Harold "Bud," George "June" and Dale "Curly" Boyle.

Memorials are suggested to the Farnam Senior Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with Dr. William Deahl officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg is in charge.
