Mrs. Cecil May Hoppes

Cecil May Griswold, daughter of Elmer and Ida Griswold, was born at Ragan, Nebraska, October 14, 1895, and passed away at the Community hospital in Cozad, Nebraska, Tuesday, January 3, 1956, at the age of 60 years, 2 months, and 19 days.

She was united in marriage to James M. Hoppes, July 7, 1913, at Norton, Kansas. To this union were born three daughters, and one son. The son passed away at the age of two years and four months.

Mrs. Hoppes lived with her parents in Ragan for a time, then the family moved to Colorado where they homesteaded. She lived there until her father died. She then returned to Ragan where she lived with her grandmother. She then moved to Kansas where she lived until the time of her marriage.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hoppes lived at Gothenburg for five years. For the past thirty-four years they have lived in Farnam.

She is survived by her husband, James. M. Hoppes of Farnam, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Frew and Mrs. Berniece Hueftle, both of Eustis, and Mrs. Doris Hueftle of Kearney. One brother, Francis Beahm [?] of San Francisco, California, one sister, Mrs. Fern Stoolz [?] of Denver, Colorado, three grandsons, Douglas and James Frew and Stephen Hueftle all of Eustis, 2 granddaughters, Paulette and Cheryl Hueftle of Kearney. One grandson, Dwaine Lee Frew, preceeded [sic] her in death.

Mrs. Hoppes was beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam, Friday January 6, 1956. Rev. B. H. Hart, her pastor, officiated. Music was furnished [by] Mrs. Hugo Blomquist, Dan McNickle, Charles Pollard, Mrs. Charles Davis, with Mrs. Raymond Smith at the piano. Interment in the Farnam Cemetery, with the Olesen Funeral Home in charge.
