Lena C. Jackson

HOLDREGE - Lena C. Jackson, 93, died Thursday at the Holdrege hospital. She was born May 19, 1890 in Dawson County.

Mrs. Jackson was raised and educated in Farnam schools and taught school in the Moorefield and Dickens area for several years. On Dec. 13, 1915, she married Archie Lee Jackson and they made their home in Dickens where they operated a grocery store. In 1935 she moved to Farnam where she lived until moving to Holdrege in 1955. She was preceded in death by Archie in 1962.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary E. Peterson of Holdrege; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Conover.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Roland Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church of Holdrege and the Heart Fund.

Jackson rites to be Monday

Services for Lena C. Jackson, 93, who died Thursday at the local hospital, will be 1:30 p.m., Monday at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home. The Rev. Roland Adams will officiate with interment at Farnam Cemetery.

Born and reared south of Farnam, she graduated from Farnam High School and taught school in the Moorefield and Dickens area for several years. Dec. 13, 1915 she was united in marriage to Archie Lee Jackson and they made their home in the Dickens community where they operated the grocery store. In 1935, she moved to Farnam where she resided until moving to Holdrege in 1955. Mr. Jackson preceded her in death in 1962 and one brother, Glen Conover [sic].

Survivors include one daughter: Mary E. Peterson and husband Arthur, Holdrege; three grandchildren: JoDell Payne and her husband John, Kearney; Robert Peterson and wife, Cheryl, and Cynthia Peterson, Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren: Ann, Linda, Nancy, and Steve Payne, Kearney; Scott, Matthew and David Peterson, Lincoln.

A memorial fund has been established for First Baptist Church, Holdrege and the Heart Fund.
