Rutha Rice

Rutha Jane McCulley Rice, daughter of Charles and Ella McCulley, was born February 13, 1909, at Riverview, Neb. and passed away at Gothenburg on Jan. 13, 1966, at the age of 56.

She taught in Nebraska schools for 33 years. She was ordained a minister in the Church of the Nazarene on July 26, 1945. She served pastorates in Ainsworth, Wood River aand Gothenburg.

She married Jay Rice of Farnam on May 19, 1959.

She is survived by her husband; a step-daughter, Mrs. Pauline Sukraw of Gothenburg; a step-son, Earl Rice of Del Rio, Tex; three brothers, Robert McCulley of Bassett; Clarence McCulley of Grand Island and Hale McCulley of Norwich, Conn., and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lorna McCulley and a brother Dewey McCulley.

Services were held at the Evangelical Free Church in Gothenburg Jan 17, 1966, with Dr. Whitcomb Harding and Rev. George Mowrey as clergyman.

Music was provided by Mr.& Mrs. Lloyd Speichler. Pallbearers were Rev. Delbert Attaberry, Rev. W. E. Swanson, Rev. Melvin Essex, Rev. Dean Herman, Rev. Fred Cook and Rev. Ronald Nelson. Burial was in Farnam Cemetery.
