Anna M. Fickenscher Whitney

Scottsbluff -- Anna M. Whitney, 79, a Gothenburg native, died October 20, 1994 at Heritage Health Care Center.

She was born October 1, 1914 to George and Frieda Lentz Fickenscher at Gothenburg where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1933.

She married A. Everett Whitney on June 20, 1937, at Gothenburg. They lived in Farnam until 1946 when they moved to Torrington, Wyoming where they lived for 32 years. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1978.

Mrs. Whitney was employed for several years by the Torrington school system.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Calvary Quilters.

Survivors include a son, Keith of Torrington; two daughters, Marcia Nicks of Scottsbluff and Beatrice Whitney of Omaha; a sister, Elsie Clark of Shelby, Montana; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband; two infant sons; and a sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Farnam Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the donor's choice.

Jolliffe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
