Arthur Henry Gronewold

Arthur Henry Gronewold, 89, of Gothenburg, Ne., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 2, 2003, after falling and breaking his neck in January. Art was born March 31, 1914 to Henry and Helena (Block) Gronewold on the home place north of Gothenburg. He attended rural school and took over the farm at the early age of 16 after the sudden death of his father. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christ Lutheran Church and later was a long time member of the Evangelical Free Church.

On February 26, 1939 he married his first and only love, Martha B. Bratten of Brady. They were blessed with four children, two daughters and two sons. He enjoyed traveling with Martha throughout the years. Farming was his life’s work, which he held a great interest in until the end, as he followed his two sons work on the farm.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife (October 20, 2000), one brother Raymond, one sister LaVerna Beck, one grandson Chad Arthur Gronewold and one son in law Frank S. Killam.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2003, 10:30 a.m at the Evangelical Free Church, Gothenburg, NE., with Rev. Rick Rehmert officiating. Burial is in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Blase Memorial Chapel.

A memorial has been established.
