Stephen McDermott

Stephen McDermott of Walker precinct, Lincoln county, Neb., died suddenly about one o’clock a.m., Nov. 3rd, 1909 after a short sickness of less than a week. He was born Aug. 14, 1859 to Michael and Rhoda D. (Peckham) McDermott of Albany, Green county, Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood, obtaining a reasonable common school education and esteemed by all acquaintances.

In the spring of 1882, he went to ??, Kansas. The same fall he came to Peckham’s on the Platte Valley. The latter part of the same year, he went to Wyoming for two years.

The fall of 1884, he took a homestead in Section 2-9-26, holding his residence in Walker precinct ever since, always ready to give a helping hand where needed. He leaves four brothers and four sisters to mourn his loss.

Less than a month ago, he was released from the U.S. Federal grand jury in Omaha by special request after serving about ten days.

We, the relatives of Stephen McDermott, offer our sincere thanks with gratitude to the neighbors in general for all of their favors offered and rendered now at the sad hour of our bereavement, without special mention.
