Walter E. Norden

Walter E. Norden age 89 of Farnam, NE died Thursday November 10, 2011 at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad.

Funeral services will be held on Monday November 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with Reverend Mark Stones officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Ansley Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday 1 PM to 6 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Walter E. Norden was born on January 14, 1922 at Ansley, NE to Fred and Laura (Patrick) Norden. Walter joined the CCC Camp in the thirties and got married in 1940. To this union three boys were born, Jack, Gale, and Wayne. He served in the United States Marines. On December 24, 1956, he married Emma "Tim" Gould. They made their home in Broken Bow. Walt and Emma owned and operated the lawn and Honda services in Broken Bow. Emma died in 1994. Walt later married Betty (Swanson) Remus on October 11, 2000 in Broken Bow. They made their home in Farnam.

Walt loved music. He played his keyboard at care homes in the area. He like to dance and listen to polka music. Walt was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a past member of the Elks.

Walter is survived by his wife Betty Remus Norden, sons Jack (Karen) Norden of Laferia, TX, and Wayne Norden of Kearney, four grand children, sisters Mary Thompson of Yuma, AZ, Delores Sale of Cozad, Ann (Ivan) Adle of Norfolk, Ne, brothers, Paul Norden of Lexington, NE, and Max Norden of Litchfield, NE, step daughters Pat (Tim) Baker of Curtis, Pam (Bob) Clark) of Rowett, TX, Linda (Keith) Williams of North Platte, and Janet (Petri) Papninaho of Spicer, Minnesota, 5 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma, son Gale, sisters Helen, Delsie, Emma, and Kathryn.
