Grace M. Ozanne

Grace Mary Ozanne, 86, of Lexington, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at St. Francis Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

Visitation was Monday, March 12, 2007, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Wake service was Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington.

Mass of Christian burial was Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating.

Burial was in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia (Douglas) Chase of Wichita, Kan; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Ozanne of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John on Sept. 6, 1996, two sons, John and Thomas, brother Earl, sister Pansy, grandson Josh, and two half brothers.

Grace was born Nov. 21, 1920, at Farnam, to John and Ada (Harry) Thomalla. She grew up in the Farnam area and graduated from Farnam High School with the class of 1939.

On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Allen (John) Ozanne at Farnam. The Ozanne family moved to Lexington during the 1940s. They later lived in various towns including Holdrege, McCook, and Edgar, where they operated a cafe from 1962 until 1964. They returned to Lexington in the 1970s. Grace helped her husband deliver papers and also helped at the rubber stamp business.

Grace was active in St. Ann's Catholic Church where she was a member of the altar society. At St. Ann's she was instrumental in organizing the Mission Group as its chairman where she organized a bandage-rolling group that for over 20 years worked to send medical supplies overseas. While active in the VFW Auxiliary she became a chaplain and cut many coupons for families of our American soldiers.
