Clara Elizabeth (Andrew) Pollard

Clara Elizabeth, daughter of William and Mary Ellen Andrew, was born July 12, 1871 on a homestead in Saline County, Nebraska, and departed this life April 5, 1963 at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 24 days. She was the first white child born in the Friend precinct.

On November 14, 1894 she was united in marriage to Quincy B. Pollard. They made their first home in Cambridge. To this union were born a daughter and two sons. In 1910 the family moved to Farnam, where they lived until the death of her husband in 1936. Since then Mrs. Pollard has made her home with her daughter in Gothenburg.

She was a member of the Methodist Church for 75 years and the last of the Charter members of the Rebekah Lodge at Friend.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Chester Hugo of Gothenburg, her son, Clayton B. Pollard of Grand Island, one granddaughter, Marilyn Condin of Salt Lake City, Utah; three great grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Sims of Friend, a brother, Charles, of Los Angeles, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 8, at 11:00 A.M. at the McVay-Oleson Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Clarence W. Buehler officiating. Mrs. Frank Schwang sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "There is no Night There", accompanied by Mrs. Clifford Geiken.

Interment was in the Cambridge Cemetery.
