Polly A. Taylor

OVERTON — Polly A. Taylor, 65, of Overton died Jan. 25, 2003, at her home.

She was born Aug. 13, 1937, at Farnam to W. Blair and Mildred Heath, who were publishers of the Farnam News, Overton Observer and Elm Creek Beacon for many years. She was a 1956 graduate of Overton High School and attended Kearney State College.

On Aug. 13, 1957, she married Norm Taylor. She began her career in the newspaper business when she started to crawl and with the exception of 13 years, was actively involved in printing and publication all her life. She was a long time 34 years co-publisher with her husband of the Beacon Observer newspaper at Overton and Elm Creek.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Elm Creek Lions Club and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, reading, was a history buff and enjoyed high school classmates and family reunions. She was a notorious lover of stray cats and dogs. She loved camping, traveling and exploring.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Fail (Paul) Johnson of Stockville; her mother, Mildred of Overton; grandson, Jason (Kara) Potter ; great-grandson, Quade of Stockville; sister, Donella (Marvin) Tiede of Overton; special niece, Sue (Curt) Moore and their son, Sam of Grand Island; brother-in-law, John (Karolyn) Taylor of Smithfield; James (Monica) Taylor , Hazel Green of Alabama, and Elroy (Phyllis) Lierman of Kearney; sister-in-law, Charline Harris of Broadwater; and a mother-in-law, Charline Denbo of Broadwater; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Barbara Lierman.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Lions Foundation.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Westmark Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Overton Funeral Home.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge.
