O. Wayne Claflin

O. Wayne Claflin, 75, of Farnam, died Thursday in the Cozad hospital. He was born May 28, 1910, in Frontier County and was raised on a farm near Stockville. He married Fay Maret on July 16, 1932.

Claflin had lived in Stockville, Elsie, and Moorefield before moving to a farm northwest of Farnam.

In 1961, the Claflin's moved to Farnam where he worked as a blacksmith and for the village of Farnam, retiring in 1972.

He is survived by his wife Fay; two sons, Edward of Gothenburg and Michael of Sumner; five daughters, Nita (Mrs Alan) Alvord of Gillette, Wyo., Donna (Mrs. Del) Craig of Cozad, Marilyn (Mrs. Charles) Cuttell of Norfolk, Ruth (Mrs. Roy) Raney of Madison, Ala., Cindy (Mrs. Ron) Sabin of McCook; three sisters, Hazel Kircher of McCook, Zelia Nitsch of Hayes Center and Cleo Arent of Superior; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Farnam United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Wigert officiating. Burial was in the Arbor Cemetery near Stockville.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

Visitation was Saturday, 3-8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad and Sunday, 5-8 pm. at the Farnam United Methodist Church.

Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad was in charge of arrangements.
