Mayme (Garven) Ainlay

Mayme Garven, daughter of Anthony and Mary Garven, was born at Bradford, Penn., Feb. 5, 1881, and died at her home in Belgrade on Tuesday, August 22. As a child she came to Farnam, Nebraska, with her parents.

She was married in October, 1901, to B. J. Ainlay and came to Belgrade and has resided here until the time of her death. To them were born one son and five daughters; Ben J. Ainlay Jr. of Troy, Kansas, Marguerite Ainlay of Belgrade, Mrs. Lucille McKillip of Genoa, Mrs. Dorothy Black of Monroe, Wis., Mrs. Helen Vogt of Grand Island, and Mrs. Elinor Guidinger of Los Angeles, Cal., all of whom, with her husband, survive.

She also leaves one brother, Earl Garven of El Paso, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Hobbs of Portland, Ore., There are eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

As a young lady she was an active worker in the Congregational church of Farnam and a member of the Christian Endeavor and was secretary of the Congregational Sunday School for a number of years.

During her many years of residence in Belgrade Mrs. Ainlay in addition to raising a large family, found time to take part in civic affairs. She was a member of the Board of Education for several years, an active worker in the Ladies Aid Society, Red Cross, P. T. A., a charter member of the Priscilla Rebekah Lodge of Belgrade and other activities.

Funeral services were held at the Belgrade Methodist church on Friday afternoon, August 25, with Rev. Carl Sandberg of the Fullerton Presbyterian church officiating. Elburn C. Rice sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Beautiful Isle” and “Goin’ Home” with Mrs. Allen B. Atkins of Genoa as accompanist.

Interment was made in the Fullerton cemetery.

Mrs. B. J. Ainlay Dies

Mrs. B. J. Ainlay, 70, resident of the Belgrade community for many years, died Tuesday morning at her home at Belgrade after a long illness.

She is survived by her husband and five daughters and a son.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church at Belgrade with Rev. E. T. Baldwin, pastor of the church, and Rev. Carl Sandberg of the Presbyterian church at Fullerton in charge. Burial will be made at Fullerton.

Funeral Rites For Mrs. B. J. Ainlay

Funeral services for Mrs. B. J. Ainlay, for many years a resident of Belgrade, who died at her home in Belgrade on August 22, were held Friday afternoon of last week at the Belgrade Methodist church. Rev. Carl Sandberg of Fullerton was in charge and burial was made at Fullerton.

Mrs. Ainlay came to Belgrade in 1901 after her marriage and resided there until her death. She was active in church, civic and social affairs of her community.

She is survived by her husband, B. J. Ainlay; one son, Ben Jr of Troy, Kans., and five daughters, Marguerite at home, Mrs. J. H. McKillip of Genoa, Mrs. A. W. Black of Monroe, Wis., Mrs. Merle Vogt of Grand Island and Mrs. Norman Guidinger of Los Angeles, Cal. Eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother and one sister also survive.
