Glenn Wengert

Glenn Wilson Wengert, 92 years of age, of Arapahoe, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford), passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Tri-Valley Health Systems in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born October 11, 1918 at Oxford, the youngest of three sons born to Jacob H. and Cora Mae (Hostetter) Wengert.

Glenn entered the Nebraska School for the Deaf in 1928, at the age of 10 and attended school there for 11 years until his father needed him to return home to the family farm. Glenn engaged in farming his entire life.

On September 22, 1963 he was united in marriage to Neva LeRene Stewart. The couple made their home in the Oxford area. Neva passed away on May 2, 1987. On November 15, 2003, Glenn was united in marriage to LaVone Elaine (Boone) Rumel. The couple made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, where he treasured the many friendship bonds formed through the years with several individuals who were also deaf. Lavone passed away on December 4, 2008 and Glenn returned to south-central Nebraska and resided at Arapahoe until his passing.

Besides his parents, first wife, Neva and second wife, Lavone, Glenn was preceded in death by two brothers: Irven and Gilbert Wengert.

Glenn is survived by his nephew, Allan Wengert and his wife, Sandra of Arapahoe; sister-in-law, Margaret Wengert of Spearfish, South Dakota and a host of relatives and friends.
