Sam Rice, brother of J. B. Rice, and a former resident of Farnam was accidentally killed at Scotts Bluff last Thursday by a runaway. Mr. Rice was hauling a load of beets over an alfalfa field when he slipped and fell at the horses heels, this frightened the horses and they started to run; the wheels of the wagon passed over his head which resulted in his death.

Mr. Rice was a brother-in-law of the Boyle Brothers, and was well known in this locality.
