William Bick

William Bick was born at Sioux City, Wisconsin on June 16, 1859, and departed this life near Farnam, Nebr., on March 9, 1936 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 23 days.

On July 4, of 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Pendall at Seward, Nebr., and to this union nine children were born; five sons and four daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Chris Gaibler, preceeded him in death on April 16, 1916, and his loving wife on May 24, 1915.

He came with his parents from Wisconsin to Nebraska when just a teen age lad and settled near Seward where he grew to manhood and was married.

In the late eighties they moved to the state of California where they resided for several years but becoming tired of the far west made their way back to their home community at Seward where another decade was spent. In the year of 1906 they moved to Dawson county and settled near Farnam where they continued to live for a period of seven years going back again to Seward in 1913. Soon after his return to Seward this time his companion was laid away and he gave up keeping his own home, spending the next few years of his life at different places in the state until in 1932 when he went to Eustis and entered the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edd Rieker where he remained until the end came. He was confirmed and taken into membership of the Lutheran church.

There are left to mourn the passing of this aged parent eight of the children: Mrs. Elizabeth Balser, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Burt, Roy, Chester and Virgil, Seward; Mrs. Lucille Gaibler and Arthur, Farnam; and Mrs. Edna Rieker, Eustis; one sister, Mrs. Louise Norton, Le Mars, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
