Dennis Gene Thomsen

Dennis Gene Thomsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thomsen of Sutherland, passed away Monday, January 29, at the Sutherland Community Hospital following a prolonged illness, at the age of 17 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Born March 10, 1944, at Holdrege, he lived two years at Farnam and one year at Stratton before coming to Sutherland where his father has been a member of the high school faculty ever since. Dennis was active in school activities, with special interest in athletics and music. He was a member of the FFA, the 4-H, and the SailorĀ¹s Letter Club. He was an active member of the Sutherland Methodist Church and Church School.

Funeral services were held at the Sutherland Methodist Church Thursday, February 1, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William J. Willcox officiating.

Dennis is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thomsen; one brother, Kenneth of Sutherland; four sisters, Mrs. Robert Fisher of Camp Lemoore, Calif., Carol Mae, Janice Rae, and Kim Marie all at home; also by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Thomsen, and maternal grandfather, Harve McNickle all of Farnam.

Pallbearers were Mickey Bowden, Rodney Meyer, Marlin White, Medlin Crockett, Bill Goedert, Jim Jochum, Ivan Dike, and Bruce White. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery. [later re-interred at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE]

Adams and Swanson Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
