Obituary Collection
Christian Rieker

The Lord of life called into life eternal Christian Rieker. He entered into this life September 25, 1858, at Neckarwestheim, Wuertemberg, Germany. In early infancy he was received by the Lord in holy baptism and renewed this covanent [sic.] on the day of his confirmation in April, 1872.

On April 5, 1883, he entered the state of matrimony with Karoline Christine Zeeh. This union was blessed with eleven children, three sons and eight daughters. One son and two daughters, and his wife preceeded [sic.] him in death.

In March, 1892, he came to the U. S. A. and Frontier county. Later he lived in Dawson county permanently. Our departed brother was an honest and true christian [sic.]. He attended divine services faithfully. Several weeks ago he developed an illness from which he suffered much, first at home and also at the hospital. Before a surgical operation early in June he partook of the Lord’s supper. His only desire was to be with the Lord whom he loved and with whose word he consoled his longing soul. He also found great comfort in the hymns of his church.

July 3rd was the day of his deliverance from all earthly cares and troubles, his age being 78 years, nine months, eight days. He is mourned by his sons, Edward and Albert Reiker of Eustis; his daughters, Mrs. Amalie Gaibler of Newberg, Ore.; Mrs. Louis Holbein, Mrs. Bertha Wolf, Mrs. Emile Wagner of Eustis; Mrs. Emma Whited of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Elsie Rieker of Eustis; one brother, Gottlob Rieker in Germany; thirty-five grand-children; eleven great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.
