James B. Craig,
72, Laid to Rest at
Gaslin Cemetery

James Berger Craig, son of William and Sarah Craig, was born September 9th, 1879, at Joplin, Mo., and when a small boy moved with his parents to a homestead south of Brady, Nebraska.

In 1924 he moved to Ogden, Utah, where he made his home until two years ago, when he moved to Grand Island.

He passed away in the St. Francis hospital on April 10th, 1952, after a short illness, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and one day.

On April 19, 1903, he was married to Eleanor Austin, and to this union seven children were born.

Those left to mourn his passing, are: his wife, Eleanor; two daughters: Lela Moor of Holdrege, and Opal Anderson of Grand Island; three sons: Kenneth of Stockton, Calif., Master Sergeant Ira of Great Falls, Montana, and Roland of Ogden, Utah; three brothers: J. C. of Twin Falls, Idaho, R. L. and L. C. of Brady; two sisters: Adelia Ellis of Maryland and Lena Brooks of Long Beach, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lila, a son, Austin, and two brothers, Henry and John.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 14th, at two-thirty o’clock at the Olesen Funeral Home, Rev. Walter E. Neth, pastor of the Brady and Banner Methodist churches, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Bergstrom sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “We are Going Down the Valley,” accompanied at the piano by Miss Lavawn Peterson. Serving as pallbearers were six nephews: Dwight Austin, Ernest Peterson, Milton Craig, Robert Craig, Jr., Dale Craig and Ray Craig. Burial was in the Craig family lot in the Gaslin cemetery.
