Frank Elijah Griffis

Frank Elijah Griffis was born on Dec. 6, 1863 in Manchester, Illinois, and departed this life at his home in Gothenburg, Tuesday morning, April 30, 1946, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Mr. Griffis had been in failing health for many years and was bedfast for the last two weeks before his passing.

He had been a resident of Farnam and Gothenburg for most of his life, coming here from Furnas county.

On January 18, 1887, he was united in marriage to Cora Belle Morgan, at Beaver City, Nebraska, 60 years ago. To this union was born 11 children, 3 preceding him in death.

Mr. Griffis was a devoted husband and father, and was loving and kind to all who have known him.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Cora Belle; his children, Jessie Edgar of Gandy, George of North Platte, Ray of Farnam, Sy of Willow Island, Virgil and Mrs. Delia Bartlett of Cozad, Mrs. Mabel Cover of Gothenburg, and Mrs. Mae Pebley of Ogallala; one sister: Mrs. Mertie Anley, 44 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted Thursday, May 2, at the Chester L. Hugo Funeral Home, by Rev. Bert A. Bessire, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
