In 1885 she emigrated to America, making her home at Bucyrus, Ohio, where she was employed until March 1890, when she came to Eustis, Nebr.

She was a lifelong member of Lutheran Church, having been baptized in infancy and confirmed on April 29, 1883, while still in Germany. A charter member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid she retained her membership until the time of her passing.

Mrs. Schurr was a kind and loving mother, who brought her children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The welfare of her family was foremost in her mind. She bore her suffering with submission to God’s will. She enjoyed the visits of the members of her family and always had a sweet smile for them, as well as for other callers.

In these last years of her life she was faithfully and lovingly cared for by her daughter Alma and son Arthur.

She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Anna, Mrs. Christ Gengenbach, Grant, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Rieker, and Alma Schurr, Farnam, Nebr.; seven sons, Fred, Fremont, Nebr.; Albert and George, Cozad, Nebr.; John of Farnam, Nebr.; Willie of Cambridge, Nebr.; Martin, Eustis, Nebr.; and Arthur, Farnam, Nebr.

These with their families and many other relatives mourn her passing.

For me to live is Jesus,
For me to die is gain;
I yield to Him most gladly,
And leave this world of pain.
In peace this life departing,
To yonder realms I soar,
That I with Christ, my brother,
May dwell forevermore.
My toil and cares are ended,
My troubles all must cease,
For in Thy wounds, O Jesus,
My soul has found its peace.
