Lois Meredith

Lois Meredith, 92, of Gothenburg, NE, died January 3, 2024 in Kearney, NE.

Lois was born July 15, 1931, to Marion and Rebecca (Johnson) Metcalf.

The family spent most of their years in and around the Farnam area. They spent one year in Oregon before moving back to Nebraska, where Lois graduated high school in 1948. On May 27, 1948 she married Kenneth Meredith and to this union six children were born, Rita Ann, Roger Roy, Rosemary Faye, Dianne Lynn, Donna Jean, Deborah Kay.

Lois stayed busy gardening, canning and sewing for her family. As our family grew she spent much of her time making quilts and afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To be given for weddings, births, and graduations. Love for her family was in every stitch. She loved to tell that she had 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Roger, Gothenburg, NE; five Daughters, Rita (Carl) Nelson of Gothenburg, NE; Rosemary Kotschwar of Gothenburg, NE; Dianne (Gary) Klein, Farnam, NE; Donna Land of Gothenburg, NE; Deb (Mike) Claflin, of Gothenburg, NE.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, parents, Marion and Rebecca Metcalf, sister, Laverna Schroeder, brother, Eldon Metcalf, grandsons, William Callahan, Tony Klein, great-grandsons, Kevin Bodfield Jr. Alex Dewey and great-great-grandson Decklan McIntyre.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 Tenth St, Gothenburg, NE; Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, PMA Lonna Grabenstein Officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cozad Cemetery, Cozad, NE.

Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Senior Center.
