Obituary — B. S. Hovey

Bryon S. Hovey, son of Sylvenus and Caroline Hovey, was born at LeRoy, Lake county, Ohio, on June 18, 1853. He passed away at his home in Stockville, November 29, 1938, at the age of 85 years, five months and eleven days.

Mr. Hovey grew to manhood in Ohio. On January 1st, 1878 he married Emma Rogers. One child, Alton, was born.

On March 20, 1884, they left Ohio and came to Alma, Nebraska. On June 5th of the same year the family came to the homestead located 3½ miles northeast of Stockville. Here they made their home until 1892, at which time they moved to Wichita, Kansas. Again in 1905 they moved back to the homestead. Ten years later they moved to Stockville, where they have since made their home.

Mr. Hovey became a member of the Masonic Order while still in Ohio. He was among those instrumental in starting the Stockville Chapter of the Order.

He is survived by his wife, son, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many friends.
