Obituary Collection
O. W. Nichols

Oscar W. Nichols was born February 27, 1880, in Fayette county, Ohio. In March, 1886, he removed to Gothenburg with his parents where he lived for 23 years, during which time he was married to Miss Nellie Beaver, Oct. 23, 1906.

He served in the Second Nebraska regiment in the Spanish American war, was a member of the Modern Woodmen of American, and the Order of Spanish War Veterans.

In March, 1909, he removed to Sedgwick, Colo., where he remained until the time of his death, Oct. 11, 1916.

He is survived by his mother, three brothers, three sisters, his wife and two children: Gertrude, aged 9 years, and Margaret, aged 19 months.

The remains were brought to Gothenburg, and the funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at the home of his mother, Mrs. D. C. Nichols, conducted by Rev. Arthur Atack. Interment was made in Peckham cemetery.

Among those who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Stoner of Inavale, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. C. B. McKinstry of Sedgwick, Colo., E. J. Nichols and wife of Cambria, Wyo., Mrs. W. C. Beard of Winfield, Kas., Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Carpenter of Fort Collins, Colo.
