John Thompson Earll

John Thompson Earll was born Feb. 8, 1872, in New York state and departed this life at his home on January 4, 1949, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 26 days.

When a small child he moved with his parents to Iowa. Later, a young man about 17 years of age, he came to Nebraska and settled on a farm southwest of Gothenburg.

On June 22, 1907, he was married to Miss Avis Carey, and to this union was born one daughter.

Due to ill health, Mr. Earll left the farm in 1940 and moved to Gothenburg, where he continued to make his residence until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Avis Earll; one daughter, Mrs. Irene McDermott; one adopted daughter, Miss Jean Earll; five grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 10th, at the Olesen Funeral Home, Rev. Gale A. Moon, officiating. Mrs. Gertrude Schwanz sang “Nearer My God to Thee” and “In the Sweet By and By.” Mrs. Lucille Rude accompanied her at the organ. The pallbearers were: Ira Austin, Robert Weathers, Charles Moore, Victor Bergman, Harry Hiles and Fred Moore. Burial in the Peckham cemetery.
