Joseph Schulligan
Passes Away Suddenly

Joseph Schulligan was born in Syracuse, N.Y., March 19, 1859, and departed this life June 2, 1924, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 14 days.

On April 2, 1892 he married Lena [Spiehs], at Grand Island, Nebraska, and to this union one child was born.

Mr. Schulligan brought his family and moved to Farnam about 18 years ago settling on a farm a few miles west of town, where he lived at the time of his death. He had been a rheumatic sufferer for many years which left his body crippled and made it hard for him to do his work, but he was patient and kind and was always working at something.

He was a member of the Farnam camp of the M.W.A. and carried a $2,000 insurance policy.

Mr. Schulligan had not been feeling well for several days, so when they started to plow the garden Monday morning he got to feeling so bad they put the team in the barn and he started for the house and fell when he was about half way, stricken with a kind of a paralytic stroke and Cerebral Hemorage which caused his death about 11: o’clock.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a beloved wife and daughter, Clara, and three sisters, besides a host of other relatives.

Short funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Craig, pastor of the Congregational church.

The remains were taken to Doniphan, Tuesday evening where they were laid to rest in the family burial ground.

The Echo joins the community in extending sincere sympathy with the bereaved family in this hour of sadness.

The Farnam Echo 21(30):1 Thursday, June 6, 1924.
