Boyd J. Caster

Boyd J. Caster, 79, 3463 Third Avenue died Saturday at his home after a long illness.

He was a native of Farnam, Neb., and lived in Council Bluffs for 47 years. He retired in 1970 as a crew dispatcher for the Union Pacific Railroad, after 47 years of service.

He was a member of Queen of Apostles Church, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus 1045, a past Grand Knight, a member of Drum General Assembly 4th Degree, the Union Pacific Oldtimers, the Omaha Ostomy Association, and Unit 31 of the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees (NARVRE).

He is survived by his widow Susanne, of Council Bluffs; two sons, Thomas R. of Lincoln, Neb., and Boyd J. Jr., of Des Moines; two brothers, Thomas N. of Farnam, Neb., and Leon O., of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Anthony of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Meroa Knisley of Wahoo, Neb.; and 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Bishop Sheen Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Beem-Belford Funeral Home.
