Peter Speck

Peter Speck, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Speck, was born at Strawberry Point, Clayton county, Iowa on May 15, 1879, and died at his home northwest of Ingham, April 7, 1937 at the age of 57 years, 10 months and 22 days.

He was married to Mary Devine of Farnam on August 12, 1903. To this union were born seven children, one son having preceded the father at the age of 14 months. Those who are left to mourn his sad death are his loving wife, his children: Mrs. Margaret Griffith of Berryville, Ark., Eugene of Ingham, Mrs. Jessie Martin of Moorefield, Charles, Donald and Geneva at home; three grandchildren; his aged mother, Mrs. F.E. Speck of Lexington; five brothers and three sisters besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Speck came to Nebraska with his parents at the age of three years and located in Gosper county. When a young man, he came to Farnam, and he has lived here and near Ingham until the time of his death.

A loving husband and father, an industrious man and a splendid neighbor has entered the great beyond.

Farewell, to you, the rustle of whose garments, Fragrant with memory, I still can hear; For all thy tender kindness, and thy bounty, I drop my thankful tribute on they bier.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church at Farnam, conducted by Rev. Samuel McKeown. Burial was in the Farnam cemetery.

Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pollard and Mr. and Mrs. Dan McNickle, accompanied by Mrs. W.G. Parker at the piano. Pallbearers were: Ely Stinnette, Hillard Geiken, Martin Krone, Oscar Peterson, John Litchenberg, and Ray Mackey.
