Gladys Esther (Oberg) Sukraw
Gladys Esther Sukraw, 78, of North Platte,
died March 7, 1997.
She was born January 26, 1919, at Orafino
to John E. and Antonia Johnson Oberg. She
was raised in the Farnam community, where
she attended school and graduated from Farnam
High School in 1936.
She also completed one year of college in
Nampa, Idaho, and taught school at Ingham,
Stockville and Fort McPherson.
She married Harold A. Sukraw June 29,
1941, at Farnam. He preceded her in death
September 2, 1982. They lived in the Maxwell
community for 47 years.
Mrs. Sukraw moved to North Platte in 1987
and lived there until her death. She was a
member of the First Church of the Nazarene,
where she was a long-time Sunday school
teacher and was very active in the missionary
circle. In 1995, she received the churchs
Distinguished Service Award.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharold
of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Sharlene of
North Platte; sons, John of North Platte,
Jim (Leah) of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Joe
(Susan) of North Platte; sister, Lois Rice of
Del Rio, Texas; brother, Clarence Oberg of
Farnam; five grandchildren and many neices
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
one sister and one brother.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
March 11, 1997, at First Church of the
Nazarene of North Platte. The Rev. Stanley
Aubrey officiated. Burial was in Plainview
Cemetery at Maxwell.
